NEWSLETTER

Hi All

At last some fine weather looks on the cards, so it looks good for our large contingent of runners who are preparing for this year’s Dublin City Marathon.  Reports tell us that many of the crew are well on target, clocking up to 20 miles or even more over the weekend.  For those with more modest ambitions, a trip to the 5K race in Carrigtwohill on this Wednesday might be an attractive alternative..  The race begins at 7.30pm and all proceeds will go to the Cork Association For Autism – so please make a special effort to support the event.

Before we delve any further into race news I would ask all our members to please take special note of the following message from our Clothing Officer – Claire Fitzgerald.

Anyone wishing to purchase a club singlet can you please email me before September 5th at
They are €15.This order will be the last before Ballycotton 2013!
The order will take approx. 1month and will be available on Wednesday night when we start back at training along with other club stock.(tracksuits/T-shirts/hats/rain coats)
Please note the club merchandise is subsidised by 50% by the club.

Now back to the race scene and a word of congratulations to Noel O’Regan who finished second in the 10K Run which was part of the Olympic Triathlon held in Cobh recently.  Just behind in third was AJ Murphy who is in brilliant form at the moment. AJ took part in the Iron Man Triathlon over the weekend and also finished a superb 5th in last week’s Leisureworld 5 Mile Race in Ballincollig.  For good measure his wife Trish took over 30 seconds off her personal best time in the same race.

The weekend past was dominated by the Dingle Marathon and Half Marathon and there was a large representation from our club in action.See report below.

Marc Dalton has posted a list of names on our club blog who are travelling to Lanzarote in November.  Please contact Marc on 087 2388326 to confirm (or deny)

Finally, remember the Cork Half Marathon takes place in Blarney next Sunday – pre entry was due to close at the weekend, but I’m sure you will get away with posting your entry today to John Buckley Sports.  See all details on the St Finbarr’s AC web site.
Remember you can also enter on the day from 9am – the race starts at 11am.

Training as usual on Mondays and Tuesdays  – the autumn/winter season arrangements will be announced later this month.

Regards
John
