WEEKEND RUNAROUND

New Members Welcome

Now that Ballycotton 10 is over people are wondering how to improve their times etc for the upcoming Summer season. The very best way is to join an athletic club.
There you will receive a proper training schedule and great advice. There is no better local club than Midleton AC with its experienced and professional coaches we are happy to advise athletes of all levels from the very fast to the slow and all stages in between. Give us a call at 0872403940  or e mail mdtacinfo@gmail.com. There is no better value around.

Thanks to Kathleen O'Connell for the above photos

On a lovely morning for running the Cork County Road Racing Championships took place in Castlelyons at 10am on the morning of St Patricks Day. These races are confined to Athletic Ireland Clubs and are always of great interest to athletes.
We took Silver in the NOVICE Ladies  with Helen Gilroy, Sheila Buckley, Esther Murphy and Louise Barry. Whilst Helen Gilroy also took Silver in the Ladies O/50 and Sally Drennan took Bronze in the same Cat.. Amanda Cooney took Bronze in the O/55 cat. and Kathleen O'Connell also took bronze in the O/60.

Results just in our Ladies O/45 Team took GOLD with Helen Gilroy, Sally Drennan and Margaret Jones.

Our men were also in the prizes with Club Vice Captain Mark Walsh taking GOLD in the O/55 and Donie O'Connell taking Bronze in the O/65.
There were several PBs with Edwin Cashman well smashing the twenty four minute barrier for the first time and Mark O'Reilly also PBing showing he is well on track for his Manchester Marathon next month. So a great day all round for the club.

The first race of the weekend is the Cork County Road Championships in Castlelyons. We have about twenty runners going there and we would love some supporters. Its on at 10 am so you have plenty time for parades later. Remember if running you MUST wear your club colours.

Then on Sunday we have the very popular Cloyne 4 km where we hope to pick up some more prizes.
The final race of the 2017 series will take place on Sunday next, March 19th at 9.30am.
Tee-shirts for all who will have completed at least 4 out of the five races will be given out after the race. They will not be available before race start.
Harty's bar & restaurant will provide teas, coffee and biscuits after the race and overall series prizes will also be presented at this time
